The Potomac Conference, held January 8-9, 1999, sought
to change the profile of the Greater Washington region by connecting people, talent,
knowledge and civic pride for the New Economy. Session XII of the Potomac Conference
launched a three-part series on the new emerging economy in the region how global markets,
knowledge and technology will define business and community relationships in the next century.
Since 1991, senior level business executives and the region's top elected officials have
been brought together by the Greater Washington Board of Trade to address and seek solutions
